To be clear I think PUSH is great - it's the echo [spam], echo [spam], echo [spam], echo [spam] that follows at every social media and social networking site that drives me up the wall. I do not have a smart phone nor do I even want one. I'm not a breaking news reporter and what I see is the same "real time" information circulating over and over and over again ad nauseum.

For those who do not blog for bucks like you and me and who have subscribers receiving our posts immediately after publication: What's the urgency?

Are bloggers with non-monetized blogs so worried about their posts getting lost in that sea of cacophonous noise, that we need truly need to march in lock step with make money bloggers and have army of automated bot "followers" to be pinging them again and again and again? I think not.

I'm getting blog updates by email subscription (where offered) and by Google Reader, both of which are web-based, and I get to them when I get to them, not the other way around.

If I had a smart phone, which is where all this instant update business is going, I'd go mad.
