They have made made and continue to make changes that bring the Techorati authority more in line with how Google is determining authority based on natural linking patterns.

(1) Technorati stopped counting static blogroll links, and these links have now aged out of the authority calculations (the-six-month-link-window).

(2) They now rely more heavily on RSS and Atom feeds than in the past and full-content feeds are preferred. Those who allow only partial feeds may be negatively affected.

(3) Pages that amount to nothing more than snippets obtained from RSS feeds being passed off as blogs are discounted.

(4) Those who do not have a preconfigured option for pinging Technorati may also be negatively affected.

Technorati has paid writing opportunities for bloggers.

It seems the sleeping dragon has awoken and the times they are a changing. ;)

That is interesting. I had no idea about this purchase.
I had noticed the complete drop off in authority, but like everyone else I just hoped that in time they would fix the problem.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to blogcritics now.
