This is a lengthy post. Prior to reading it, you may want to read: How to make money by blogging , Twenty five steps to increase traffic and How and why to get your own domain.
I don’t recommend using a hosted service like Blogger if you want to seriously monetize your blog. You don’t get enough control. If you don’t have your own URL, you’re tying yourself to a service you don’t own and building up someone else’s asset. You want to build page rank and links for your own URL, not someone else’s. Plus you want sufficient control over the layout and design of your site, so you can jump on any opportunities that require low-level changes. If you use a hosted blog, you’re at the mercy of the hosting service, and that puts the future of any income streams you create with them at risk. It’s a bit more work up front to self-host, but it’s less risky in the long run. Web hosting is cheap, and there are plenty of good hosts to choose from. — Steve Pavlina
The largest niche in blogging is the “make money blogging” niche and competition is fierce. In these days of economic distress it’s even more important to absorb that fact and the fact that easy credit is no more. We can expect that some businesses will cut back on their advertising budgets and campaigns, and we can expect that click on ads may decrease.
Traffic is the primary fuel of online income generation. More visitors means more ad clicks, more product sales, more affiliate sales, more donations, more consulting leads, and more of whatever else that generates income for you. — Steve Pavlina
Organic Traffic: Organic traffic is any traffic that comes to your site without being paid for. This includes people who visit via links in forums and blogs, traffic from search engines, traffic from word of mouth, or traffic from bookmarks. Organic traffic generally comes to a site naturally and is not driven by marketing campaigns.
Inorganic Traffic: Inorganic traffic is traffic that is pushed via marketing campaigns. Banner ads, search engine ads, etc generate inorganic traffic. Generally speaking this form of traffic is semi-immediate depending on how much you blanket the web with your advertising and slowly dies out over time unless more money is spent to build a new marketing campaign.
Traffic builders checklist:
- submitting your blog to directories and search engines
- commenting on other blogs
- social bookmarking services, social networks, social media
- joining groups related to your niche or topic
- commenting on forums

I recommend reading this which appears on the front page of wordpress.COM support documentation.
WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
types of blogs allowed and not allowed at wordpress.COM http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
no blogger initiated advertising of free hosted wordpress.COM blogs http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
wordpress.COM blogs cannot be used to drive traggic to 3rd party sites. (section 2, 5th bullet) http://en.wordpress.com/tos/
After reading those you can hire a web host and downlaod a free software install from http://wordpress.org if the web host you hire does not supply a wordpress.ORG install for you.

@Mimo
Do you comprehend difference between free hosted wordpress.COM and self hosted wordpress.ORG?
http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/wordpresscom-vs-wordpressorg/
If you do then you already know that only those paying wordpress.COM for web hosting their VIP accounts can have advertising on their blogs.
http://wordpress.com/vip-hosting/
When it comes to free-hosted wordpress.COM blogs, you cannot have advertising.
http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/
http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2006/09/06/on-ads/
When it comes to self hosted wordpress.ORG installs you can have advertising.
What to do?
(1) Purchase a domain
(2) Download free software from wordpress.ORG
(3) Hire a web host
(4) Set up your blog and arrange for the advertising of your choice.

I could have included others but I decided that quality was more important than quantity, so my aim was to include the best choices. I hope that I accomplished that.

I’m new at this and currently use adsense because that was the one everybody seems to use and and the one that a lot of the ‘make money’ sites recommend. I can’t wait to check these out though.

If a blog has no visitors then they can’t click on ads. And if visitors do not click on ads then there is no income to the blogger (ie. publisher).

Provided you can handle FTP and you are capable of maintaining your own site it’s not that difficult. You will find some help in this post:

You can ask around and find out which web hosts your blogging friends use and recommend. Here’s a starting point for looking for web hosts:

Can you explain in details how to get traffic from social bookmarking services, social networks, social media (or provide me link to get e book). Are you using any click bank money making product If yes give me details
Thanks
timethief
March 29, 2009
@Jayantha
I do not monetize my blogs and cannot help you with clickbank. Each social bookmarking service is unique and you must research each one individually, join and watch to see how the members use it and then do the same yourself.
