What happened to timethief?

To make a long story short I have injured myself quite seriously. I’m suffering from a head injury and from severe muscle tearing in both legs. The symptoms of my concussion related injuries include blurry vision, foggy thinking, short attention span, inability to focus long on tasks, migraine headaches, irritability  and short term memory loss. Therefore, I am not capable of researching and writing in depth blog posts and Richard (bless him) has been writing posts for onecoolsite.

I have been working in the background on another installment in the How to Become a Better Blogger series.

I’d like to express my gratitude to Richard and to all the faithful readers who have been returning to onecoolsite. I really appreciate your support.

UPDATE: November 28, 2008
It may take up to 18 months for a full recovery and I’m now 3 months into the healing process. I have had the support of several bloggers who have helped my by writing posts for onecoolsite and I’m so grateful for their help that I’d like to send them my link love.

  2. Thanks. I’m 6 months into a healing process predicted to take 18 months. I’m doing the best I can to keep pace and I’m forgiving myself for not being able to post as frequently as I did before. I’m determined to recover fully and I appreciate your prayers for me.

  3. It’s a long recovery that apparently is going to take months. I’m grateful that it wasn’t worse. Thanks for your well wishes.
    Peace be unto you.

  4. I am glad to know that you are healing and healing well. Blogging has slowed down, I see you now have a site of your own! Cheers! And I took a leaf from this blog of yours and have completely redesigned my blog, am using DePo theme. It is nice and clutter free and quite different. And I guess I am getting tired of wordpress, their no-ads needs a fee now! Anyways good luck!

  5. Thanks for your concern and well wishes. I am healing. Concussions take a long time to heal. The good news that my neck vertebrae are back in place and the muscle tearing in my neck and legs are also healing very well. My blogging has actually slowed because I have been suffering from migraines and I must avoid eyestrain as my optical nerve to my left eye is damaged. I hope your are well and happy too. Take good care.

  6. tt,

I am sorry to read that you have injured yourself. I hope you are a lot better now and I shall pray for your complete recovery. Please take good care of your self. On another note, it is so good to see you blogging so much now a days :)

  7. Whatever your capability in the moment, it is more than enough for the burden placed on you. Sometimes people place inappropriate burdens on you, but there is no corresponding obligation to pick those up.

Like I said, you make yourself your #1 priority and if there is anything I can do (which I doubt) just let me know. If only to distract you with email.

  8. My god, I’m horrified to hear about this. Please, please take care of yourself and concentrate on healing and patience. We want you to be back to 100% before WordPress does another “improvement” or we’ll be screwed!

Seriously, take care and don’t forget to enjoy some of that special tea. It can help.

  9. OMG, I’m so sorry! I just StumbleUpon-ed your site. I volunteer with a brain injury support group (my husband was involved in a construction accident several years ago and suffered a massive TBI) and I know that head injuries don’t just heal like the rest of your body. If your head injury was/is of the “major” sort (though we say there’s really no such thing as a minor brain injury), I encourage you to seek out a brain injury support group. Amazingly, you appear to be in my neck of the woods, or close to. Might I recommend our brain injury society site? http://www.braininjurysociety.ca/

  10. Sheesh (red-faced) I really appreciate your speedy recovery message. I hope you’ll find value in what I write when I’m up to writing again. :)

  11. I only just recently met you timethief, and I give you tons of credit…..
I “Never” knew anything was wrong with you or your thinking…
Your comments and advice have been spot on, and extremely helpful, and in no way did they sound like someone suffering in any way!
My best wishes are with you for a speedy recovery, and I will be looking forward to the “fully healed” timethief….wow, I can only imagine the advice I’ll get then… :)

  12. Sorry to hear about you getting injured. All the best and wishes for a speedy recovery. But you not thinking well – wow – you are always full of wisdom and good advice.

  13. Thanks Nita. It will take time but I will heal. In the meanwhile it’s extremely frustrating not to be able to see and think well enough to blog.

  14. @Dave
Now you know why I haven’t been around much. I can’t focus well or concentrate and I have terrible migraines but these too will pass.

Hi there. In a nutshell I fell off my deck and suffered several injuries. One was a head injury. It was a full body slam and my head impacted a large, immovable stoneware planter. I also have some severe and very painful muscle tearing in my legs. I made it through the wedding and then was hospitalized. I fell because I wasn’t looking where I was going. Luckily I have no broken bones. I have a concussion and misaligned vertebrae in my neck as well the muscle tearing. In short I’m in pain but I am recovering.

  16. You just get better. There’s enough great information to digest here and it will keep us busy for quite some time to come. Kudos to Richard for keeping the light burning.

Sit and stay is pretty much all I can do right now when I’m not laying down. Thanks for leaving me this comment. I enjoy your haiku.

  18. @Root
Well I’m pretty banged up and that’s for sure. I don’t know exactly how long it will take to recover and I do appreciate your well wishes.

  19. Timethief –

Please take care of yourself! I don’t often visit your blog since I’m on Blogger, but I read you often at BC.

As I said to my doggie, “SIT! HEAL!!”

    Hope you’re feeling better soon.

    - Lulu
