vjp,

Yes, it is frustrating. I'd put the image upload/insert at about 60% complete (and that might be generous).

You might try the procedure I've outlined in <a href="http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/04/21/more-on-inserting-images-full-sized-at-wordpresscom/" rel="nofollow">More on inserting images full sized at wordpress.com</a> as it will allow you to insert images full-sized without all the new code, and in fewer steps.

I'm working on a list of things for Matt regarding that stuff that I'll be sending off to him shortly.

I've been having all kinds of problems inserting images, to the point that I literally have to re-code the information being inserted. Getting the images to line up the way I intend them to is impossible. And the preview is no help, since it doesn't show the way the images actually display.

While I know we're not going back to the old way of image handling, I really do wish they'd get this stuff fixed. Except when absolutely necessary, I've cut out putting images in my posts simply because I don't have the time to re-code each entry.

@Root
I'm glad that Roads' really neat post is getting lots of attention. It was needed and is certainly being used by lots of bloggers because the 2.5 upgrade came without beta testing that we know of and without any "manual" or FAQs entries.

@Robert
I agree that Road's post is extremely clear. He's a great technical writer and I'm delighted to have him on board along with Richard who also writes brilliant technical posts. :)

This is a really neat post. A guy who spends more time on WP than I do could easily do a hack to correct the differences. The inline styling is really messy code in any case.
