whosamungus UPDATE: Sep 23, 2010
The site now includes a post-to-WP button.
Click “showcase” in the top nav menu, click on the widget you want, click the “Post” tab below the javascript code, click the WP icon, fill in fields, click Post. Then go to the post editor for the newly created auto-post, switch to HTML, copy code, paste into text widget, save widget, trash post.
whosamungus UPDATE: December 23, 2009
Hi everyone, Christopher from whos.amung.us here.
Great to hear there is interest in our new widget, but the downside is that is requires Javascript, and, as we all know, JS is a no-go on hosted WordPress blogs unfortunately – we’d love to have hosted WordPress users using it believe me!
If you need pure HTML code for your WordPress blog, shoot us off an email at http://whos.amung.us/contact/general/ and just let us know your site URL and what widget you want (the original, custom color, and small widgets are currently embeddable in hosted WordPress blog but nearly all features including the visitor map will still work).
Feel free to fire off any other suggestions, we always love to hear from our users!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Here are the instructions for wordpress.com bloggers and others who require HTML only (non-JavaScript) widgets:
- Email the whosamungus site to get the HTML (non-javacript) code you require for the button.
- Log into your wordpress.com blog and go to -> Dashboard ->Appearance -> Widgets. Drag a Text Widget out of the Available Widgets box and drop it into in the sidebar box in the position you want it to appear in the sidebar.
- In the larger space below the title for the Text widget paste in the code you copied.
- Click “Save” and the “Close”.
Alternatively, click “showcase” in the top nav menu, click on the widget you want, click the “Post” tab below the javascript code, click the WP icon, fill in fields, click Post. Then go to the post editor for the newly created auto-post, switch to HTML, copy code, paste into text widget, save widget, trash post.

how to place map widget from whos.amoung.us?
We cannot use this kind of widget on a wordpress.com blogs. You can use one of these maps by placing the HTML code it into a text widget http://www.clustrmaps.com/
thank you so much!
where is the presentation in dashboard?
The wordpress dashboard has changed twice in the last few months. The word “presentation” has now changed to “Appearance”
Is it possible to add the amongst.us widget in our blog or not? It seems it doesn’t accept any javascript!
(1) The instructions above are correct. We can use the HTML version and the code is available. All we have to do is email and ask for it.
(2) Javascript cannot be used on wordpress.com blogs as the software strips it to preserve security. You can confirm this by checking the FAQs.

I do not have a video. The most important thing is to know that you can only use the non-Javascript code on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. The Javascript code will appear only as code and will not work on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. So you email at http://whos.amung.us/contact/general/ and let them know your site URL and that you want the non-Javascript code. Then you simply copy and pase the code they email to you into a text widget and place the text widget in your sidebar.
Thank you so much for your help ,my friend ! :)
You’re welcome. :)
