An American national phone survey of bloggers finds that most are focused on describing their personal experiences to a relatively small audience of readers and that only a small proportion focus their coverage on politics, media, government, or technology.Blogs, the 2006 survey finds, are as individual as the people who keep them. However, most bloggers are primarily interested in creative, personal expression – documenting individual experiences, sharing practical knowledge, or just keeping in touch with friends and family.

When I first began to blog I did so to keep the environmentalists in the small community I live in “in the loop” when it came to sharing environmental news. Time passed and I began a personal blog as a place where I could collect together my own thoughts and many interesting personal development and self help links. Over time I found that I no longer wanted to continue environmental blogging and closed my blog. In this blog I blog for those who are enjoying using wordpress.com technology and who are looking to improve their blogging skills.
When setting up your blog here are some questions to ponder:
- Why do you blog?
- What do you blog about?
- Who do you blog for?
- What words would your readers use to describe your blog?
- What do think you think they will like best about your blog?
